Welcome!
Hello! I’m excited you’ve found your way here. I’m James Bushman (he/his), and I’ve been teaching in the Digital Media Production world since 2019. At heart, I’m a storyteller, thanks to my background in broadcast journalism. Over time, I’ve developed a passion for helping others grow as storytellers through mentoring, training, and now, teaching the tools that power digital creativity.
This site was created to simplify learning Adobe After Effects and support the Intro to Motion Graphics course at Western Technical College. While countless tutorials are available, including some excellent ones from Adobe, I found many of them too long, too complex, or focused on too many tools at once. I aim to offer something different: short, focused, and approachable lessons that explain the tools one at a time, with clarity and purpose.
Each section of this site pairs a 2-5 minute video with clear, written explanations that support how the tool works, what it’s for, and how to use it in real creative work. Whether you’re new to motion graphics or just looking to fill in some gaps, this is a place to build practical confidence in After Effects.
I’m always open to feedback. If you notice errors, have suggestions, or want to share an idea, message me at james@jamesbushman.com.
Note: I used AI-assisted editing to help shape and clarify the written content on this website. All final writing, decisions, examples, and explanations reflect my personal teaching approach.
